Thanks, Kevin Durant, you finally got what you wanted, “A championship winning team”. Are you happy now? Because of you, the Golden State Warriors are going to undeniably win the NBA Championship this season.
After blowing a 3-1 lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals last season, the most efficient offense this planet has ever seen was able to add one of the most efficient scorers this universe has ever seen. The Warriors could probably play four-on-five the whole season with Durant, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, and still make the playoffs.
I don’t want to hear anything about chemistry issues, advanced metrics or ball-sharing problems – the Warriors have four of the best 20 players in the NBA. Most teams don’t even have two. They literally have the best offense ever and can play defense, too. They’ve built an incredible environment where they enjoy playing basketball, genuinely like each other and have learned to tune out all the noise. The Warriors are impenetrable.
Lebron James, Kyrie Irving and the whole city of Cleveland mustered every ounce of strength to come back and take down the Warriors last season. It’s not going to happen again, especially considering that the Warriors got even better.
The only thing potentially stopping Golden State is injuries. The Warriors were able to stay almost completely healthy all of last season and the playoffs, until Steph Curry got banged up and Andrew Bogut was knocked out – both led to Golden State’s collapse.
Really, the only way the Warriors lose if is they beat themselves. Draymond Green’s suspension last year may have cost Golden State a title, and if his shenanigans continue, it could definitely slow the Warriors.
I doubt the Warriors will top their regular-season win record from last year, just because they will be more focused on the playoffs and willing to rest their key guys down the stretch. But once the NBA playoffs get here, good luck other NBA teams. The Warriors are coming for everyone, and there’s really not much we can do about it.
