I have been a diehard Mets fan since I first started following baseball in 2005. In my second season as a fan the Mets and Yankees tied for the best record in baseball, but since then things have spiraled for my beloved Metsies. The Yankees have won a world series, and the Mets have dropped game winning pop ups, sprained ankles walking into the dugout, and blown seven game leads with seventeen games to go.
Things are changing though; the Mets were undoubtedly more successful than the Yankees in 2015 given their run to the World Series. There were fair questions regarding whether this was replicable given Cespedes’ and Murphy’s free agency and a fairly weal Bullpen.
The Mets replaced Murphy with Neil Walker and by the grace of God resigned Yoenis Cespedes. Now they have a very solid lineup (Granderson, Wright, Cespedes, Duda, Walker, Conforto, D’arnaud, Cabrerra) to go up the best pitching rotation in recent memory, while the Yankees have a bunch of aging stars, no Greg Bird, and a very “ehh” pitching rotation. Ill give you though, the Yankees may have the best bullpen in baseball. The Mets’ isn’t bad either given that the resigned Jerry Blevins, the dynamite lefty specialist.
