Believe it or not, the Golden State Warriors aren’t the only team in the NBA. There’s actually 29 other teams in the league. I know, who would’ve known. Whats even crazier than that, is that a few of them are actually really good. For instance, this team called the San Antonio Spurs.
The Spurs have sort of flown under the radar this season. Actually, despite how good they are, they usually fly under the radar, thats just their game. The Spurs are off to a fantastic 42-8 start. This start ties the Spur’s Franchise record for best start through their first 50 games. Golden State receives all the attention for their historic 46-4 start because they may be on pace to beat the Bulls historic 72 win season. However, how can no one acknowledge that the spurs are only 4 games behind? Technically speaking, the Spurs could tie the Bulls for the best regular season if they win out. But seriously, theres never been an instance where two teams have been this good at the same time. The Spurs and Warriors combine for a record of 88-12, something thats never been done before. Not to Mention, Tim Duncan hasn’t even been playing. Its hard to fathom how freakin good this team really is when its fully healthy. As Far as I’m concerned, the Spurs play the best basketball in the league and deserve a portion of the spotlight.
OKC has to be the most underrated team in the league. Yes, they have the third best record in basketball and lead their division. But, no one’s talking about how good they actually are. No one cares that Kevin Durant was a licensed photographer at the Super Bowl or that Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant may be leaving OKC after this year. Lets talk about basketball for a sec. These guys are REALLY good. The Thunder have never started off a season this good. They currently hold a 38-14 record and have gone 8-2 in their last 10. Not to mention they share a conference with the Warriors, Spurs, and Clippers. Russell Westbrook is a triple double machine and Kevin Durant has a tendency to randomly drop 40. With Durant and Westbrook leading the team in points, assists, and shooting percentage, its almost impossible to slow these guys down.
Yeah, I know, I’m talking about the Toronto Raptors. Heres the thing, they’re seriously killing it right now. They’ve won 13 of their last 14 games and are only two games behind the Cavaliers. The Raptors (not that surprisingly) have never started their season this hot. Statistically speaking, they actually have one of the best backcourts in the league, comparable to Golden State. DeRozen and Lowry are averaging over 40 points a game combined. Heres the kicker, their teammates contribute too. DeRozen and Lowry aren’t doing all the work, thats why they’re winning. The team leaders in points, assists, rebounds, and blocks are all different player. Every player on that team in contributing in someway and they are red hot right now. I don’t know what the hell happened to them but Toronto has been blowing past their competition lately. If they keep this pace up they’ll surpass the Cavaliers and claim the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference.
