First installment of taco Tuesday:
This will be a piece that I will use every so often probably, once a month or so on Tuesdays, in order to enlighten the world of the great food known as… Tacos.
It is only fitting that we starts the first taco Tuesday with the OG ground beef hardshell/ softshell taco. This is probably the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word taco and you’re not wrong for thinking so. It’s a gray concoction perfect for a late night eats or family fun during a stressful week night. The ability to add your own toppings and make your own creation is something that is very empowering, especially when you’re a little kid throwing on diced tomatoes and some lettuce into your own dinner. One of the huge debates want to comes to the greatness of a taco is the shell debate do you go hardshell for that extra crunch or soft shell for that burrito vibe? It’s definitely a situation by situation decision simply because of where you’re getting your tacos, how you how fast you want to eat them, who you’re eating with many other factors. Once you figure out whether you’re going to hard or soft you have to toss in some nice ground beef that is been fried up into your taco. Then comes the phone fun part… toppings. Other than its shape the toppings are probably the most distinctive aspect of a taco. It’s what separates it from your standard Mexican dish. When you’re going old-school taco you can’t put beans or rice on there, you simply have to go with Lettuce, tomato, cheese, salsa, sour cream, onions, sometime some guacamole, and maybe even a squirt of lime juice. The perfect thing about the taco is you can have a snack you or have a bunch is a meal. You just toss them back real quick and you’re on the next one. This base taco has set the tone for a multitude of tacos that have come after it. The beauty is the taco barely has any limits.
