The question circulating the table of professional NFL analysts and ESPN commentators is, who will be the #1 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft? Will it be offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil? Will it be quarterback Jared Goff? Will it be defensive end Joey Bosa? Or will it be defensive back Jalen Ramsey? The #1 pick in the NFL can not be determined until draft night, but there are many rundowns on the possibilities of each college star.
Offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil is a freak. He was a three-year starter at left tackle for the Ole Miss Rebels and has declared early entrance to the 2016 NFL draft. Heading into the Combine, Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil is increasingly looking like the overwhelming favorite to go to the Titans as the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft. Analyst Mike Mayock recently had this to say about his thoughts on Lunsil heading to Tennessee as the top pick, “If you’re Tennessee, and you’ve got your franchise quarterback, step two is how you enhance his position, protecting him up front and getting him enough weapons. The one thing I say about the first pick is he better be a good football player on day one, an eight-to-10-year starter barring injury, an alpha male, good in the locker room…or you don’t want to take him there.” The Titans have identified protecting quarterback Marcus Mariota as their top priority heading into this offseason, and nothing would bolster their pass protection more than drafting Tunsil. While having the 6’5” 305 pound lineman on the field, Ole Miss averaged 506.0 total yards and 0 sacks allowed per game. When Ole Miss did not have Tunsil, Ole Miss averaged 104.0 rushing yards per game, 411.0 total yards per game and 3 sacks allowed per game. The chances offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil goes first pick to the Tennessee Titans are increasingly growing as we approach the 2016 NFL Draft.
Will the Tennessee Titans pick defensive back Jalen Ramsey from Florida State? The skilled defensive back had a successful combine, drawing the eyes of many NFL scouts. The seminole ran a 4.42 40 yard dash, had a vert of 41 and a half, and broad jumped 11 feet 3 inches. The defensive back has a high chance of being picked number 1 overall. If lineman Laremy Tunsil is picked #1 overall, Ramsey is most likely to go #3 overall. The #2 pick in the draft is occupied by a quarterback, between Jared Goff and Carson Wentz. In many mock drafts, Ramsey is projected at 1 overall because of his great final college season and his ability to perform in front of scouts. Many believe he should go number 1 but won’t because of Tennessee’s need for a lineman to protect star quarterback Marcus Mariota. The skilled defensive back, Jalen Ramsey, of the Florida State Seminoles is definitely in the top two in the run for the #1 pick overall in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Will the 1st pick in the 2016 draft be Joey Bosa? The skilled defensive end from the Ohio State Buckeyes makes a good case for the top overall pick in the upcoming draft. In his time at Ohio State, Bosa has forced 5 fumbles, 1 interception for 28 yards, 101 solo tackles, 47 assisted tackles, 26 sacks, all tackles add up to 51 lost yards for the opposition. The defensive ends numbers at the 2016 combine were iffy at best. Bosa ran a 4.89 40 yard dash, jumped a 31.2 vertical, and had 24 reps on the bench. Many mock drafts have Bosa going at #4 overall but there some that have teams trading spots and Bosa going at #1 overall. If Joey Bosa does not go at #1 overall, he will definitely be in the top 5 picks in the 2016 NFL Draft.
The top quarterback drafted in the 2016 NFL Draft will either be Jared Goff, or Carson Wentz. Unfortunately for them, the chances either of them go #1 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft are very low. The Cleveland Browns are set to draft second overall in the draft and the need for a quarterback on the Browns is huge. Their quarterback situation has rotated from an inexperienced quarterback in Brian Hoyer, to a criminal in Johnny Manziel. Neither quarterback can produce on the NFL stage and it seems like the Browns are a lost cause for producing a sufficient quarterback position. The Browns need a leader like Jared Goff, the all star California quarterback, to come in and save the Browns association.
There are many possibilities for the #1 pick in the NFL Draft. Whether it be Laremy Tunsil, whether it be Joey Bosa, whether it be Jalen Ramsey, the Tennessee Titans will receive a pick that could turn their association around. If they want an impact player directly out of the draft, it would be smart to pick someone who can immediately impact the game such as Laremy Tunsil or Joey Bosa. We will find out which college football star earns the prestigious #1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft on the night of April 28th, in Chicago, Illinois.
