Last night, the Golden State Warriors won their 10 straight win over the Timberwolves, 129-116, keeping the team undefeated on the season. The Warriors, who won the NBA finals last year over LeBron James and the Cavaliers last season, are showing that they are still the team to beat again this season, overcoming the adversity of playing in the powerhouse west division. They are showing that they are not a team that pulled off a destiny run last, but they are ready to prove to everyone that they are trying to make the new dynasty of the NBA.
This Warriors team has been able to stay extremely healthy over the years, with no key injuries besides the occasional one coming from David Lee, who ended moving on from the Warriors over the offseason. Steph Curry has shown that he has become one of the best players in the league and he is the true leader for this team. In similarity to most major sports these days, this team was built through the draft and became successful through chemistry. For the most part, the team is still extremely young, with their 2 keys stars, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, being 27 and 25 respectfully. The team has also brought in cheap veteran players, like Andre Iguodala, to keep the fort down and be a key mentors to this young team. The sad thing is that although many people were calling Iguodala a washed up veteran, he ended up winning the finals MVP due to the defense he was able to play on Lebron and shut him down. So the mentors not only had influence on these young players, but they were having an influence to help this team win when they got playing time.
With the way this team is able play with such a young roster, this team is playing way above what was expected from them at this point in their careers. This team shows no signs of slowing down the rest of this year, and for many years to come in the future. The team is off to an undefeated start, coming off a championship season, so why shouldn’t anyone believe that they are the clear favorite to win it all again? Even if the Cavaliers make it back for a repeat matchup versus them this year, and the key players around him stay healthy, it is still very hard to see anyone getting in this teams way and giving them a run for their money. This team is on the rise, and we are only on the brink of seeing the start of a dynasty.
