Rumors around the league are that the Celtics are “one of the worst no.1 seeds” ever in postseason history. As the ridiculous as that statement is, the Celtics didn’t help their cause by blowing game 1 at the Garden.
The Celtics have been on a mission this year, and no ones given them the respect they deserve. The Celtics secured the 1 seed by 2 full games over the defending champs (Cleveland) at the end of the season. Yet, there are people out there saying that they aren’t that good, and are possibly one of the worst 1 seeds in postseason history.
Anyone who believes that clearly doesn’t know their ass from their elbow so let me educate you a little bit. They’re not.
The Celtics are a legitimate 1 seed, and one game, where our superstar and team was morning the loss of Isaiah Thomas’ sister, that we dropped does not dictate our future. The Bulls have struggled all year and they finally decided to play some above-par basketball for once and squeaked by with a 4-point win.
The Celtics were 30-11 at home during the regular season so theres no reason to worry about game 2 at the Garden. Honestly, if the Celtics can learn how to get a damn rebound, our crappy play Sunday night still would’ve resulted in a win. The Celtics have a lot of fire power and a deep lineup. If the bench decides to show up this game, its not even going to be close.
The Bulls have Jimmy Butler and Dwayne Wade so they have about 1.5 superstars on the team. Other than that, they have a thin lineup and can’t go deep into their bench. The Celtics on the other hand have a deep bench full of young players and playmakers that happened to have an off night. We still managed to put up over 100 points.
The Celtics vision is on the trophy, not a first round matchup against the Bulls. The Celtics haven’t made it out of the first round the last two years, but this year’s team is a different story. This year’s team has an MVP candidate in Isaiah Thomas, one of the best one-on-one defenders in Avery Bradley, and a young lineup with unlimited potential. Oh and I forgot to mention, one of the best coaches in the league with Brad Stevens.
Tonight the Celtics will take on the Bulls and blow them out and everyones worrying will go away. Every other team in the east is going to have a close 7 game series and the Celtics will once again emerge as the best team in the east. The only threat is Cleveland, and they posted a losing record after the all star break.
Ask me if Im worried. Im not.
The Celtics are legit, and the numbers will tell you that. If they figure out how to crash the boards and keep the ball moving like they do, my only worry will be where we’re going to hang that 18th banner. Tough problem to have.
