As a huge sports fan who is a freshman in college, this is the first year I have not been able to watch sports center every morning, and admittedly I have not been able to keep up as much as I would like on the NBA. That being said, I feel like I never really hear much about the Spurs, which is crazy considering they currently rock a .862 win percentage which is good for 3rd of all time behind the previously mentioned warriors and the 72-10 Bulls team. I had the stark realization that this year the West could have two of the three best teams ever by record. Think about how crazy that is.
If you take 1976 as the first year (which is when the NBA and ABA merged) then the league has been around for 40 years which means there have been slightly less 1200 teams by year and the two of the three best could be playing THIS year. I think that’s crazy.
The spurs and Warriors still play 4 times and these games could have huge ramifications for each team shooting for that 72 win mark. The Warriors steal the show so much that we hear about Steph Curry’s adorable daughter more than we here about Kawhi Leonard, the NBA newest superstar who very well could win the MVP were it not for the baby faced assassin. It’s just wild to think that the warriors may be the best team ever, but also may not even make it out of the west. Either way, I cannot wait for these teams with contrasting styles to play four more times in the regular season and hopefully in the West finals (which may as well be The Finals), and to really see who is the NBA’s best.
